We’ve been working in AM-FM broadcast radio since the 1960s. Dedicated to the preservation of terrestrial broadcasting, we’ve extended WZQR’s outreach by creating four unique entertainment formats that span the decades from the 1930s through today, and we’ve made them available digitally across the USA and Canada on Live365.com, in addition to distribution by TuneIn, Android, iOS, and other apps.
WZQR’s general manager, Bill Bro, began broadcasting at the age of 11, when he modified a baby nursery monitor to broadcast his first AM radio program (songs by Jimmy Durante) to his neighborhood in Wilmette, Illinois, in 1958. This led to a Radio & TV career that continues to the present day with nonprofit WZQR’s audio streams and radio broadcasts of the Big Bands, Rock Oldies, Classic Country, and Talk programs on four virtual stations.
WZQR’s focus is on the preservation of radio stations and their unique formats, essentially as they were heard when broadcast on local AM & FM channels in the USA years ago, as opposed to what is available globally today on Pandora, Apple, Amazon, Spotify, and other music sharing services. Think of WZQR’s nonprofit stations as an audio stroll down memory lane. Your comments are welcome.
